FAQ

Here are some common questions families often ask. If you don't see your question here and would like an answer, please contact us through a message or arrange a free introductory call.

WHAT IS A NIGHT NURSE OR BABY NURSE?

A Night Nurse, alternatively referred to as a Baby Nurse or Newborn Care Specialist, is a non-medical expert offering in-home care for newborns. They offer guidance and assistance, aiming to boost your confidence as parents during the initial months of your baby's life. Our Night Nurses are available for overnight, daytime, and round-the-clock care.

DOES A "NIGHT NURSE" MEAN THEY HAVE A NURSING DEGREE?

The term "night nurse" refers to a baby nurse or newborn care specialist who offers non-medical care for your infant. Not all members of the Nurturing Night team are registered nurses; only our RNs are qualified to handle medical-related tasks.

CAN THE NURTURING NIGHT TEAM MEMBER REST WHILE MY BABY IS SLEEPING?

Certainly, with a "listening ear." If your baby awakens, your Nurturing Nights Team Member will be right beside your baby throughout the night, prepared to comfort and soothe them.

WHAT DO I NEED TO PROVIDE FOR THE NURTURING NIGHTS TEAM MEMBER TO REST COMFORTABLY?

A pillow, blanket and either a bed or couch. A chair is not an acceptable place for your night nurse to rest.

HOW EARLY SHOULD I RESERVE THE NURTURING NIGHTS?

We suggest booking during your second trimester. Our Nurturing Nights services are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis, and some families secure our care as early as their first trimester. We strive to accommodate last-minute requests, so please feel free to reach out to us.

HOW LONG SHOULD I BOOK OVERNIGHT CARE FOR?

Great question. Each family has unique needs. We typically recommend a minimum of a few nights a week for at least the initial two weeks, extending up to sixteen weeks or even longer if required. Multiples and preemies often require care for a more extended period compared to a singleton or full-term baby. We can tailor a unique plan based on your family's specific needs.

WILL I HAVE A DIFFERENT NIGHT NURSE EVERY NIGHT?

No, most of our night nurses typically work 3-5 nights a week to ensure continuity of care. We aim for every family to establish a trusting relationship with their night nurse. If you prefer care for 7 nights a week, the schedule will be divided between two newborn specialists.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED TO CANCEL A SHIFT?

We strive to offer flexibility, but if you need to cancel a shift, we request that you notify your night nurse at least 48 hours in advance. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice before the scheduled shift will incur the regular nightly rate charge. If you need to reschedule a shift to a different night within the same week, and it aligns with your night nurse's availability, your invoice will be adjusted to reflect the date change.

I'VE NEVER HIRED A NIGHT NURSE BEFORE WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO PAY?

The average rates for a night nurse typically range from $40 to $55+ per hour. The exact rate depends on the number of infants, whether there is a medically complex case, and if you require a nurse with specific licensing or credentials.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT AND WHEN AM I INVOICED?

We accept various forms of payment, including all major credit cards, Zelle, PayPal, and ACH. Payment is required in advance, and we issue invoices accordingly.

ARE WE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING PARKING?

Certainly. If you don't have a driveway or designated parking spot, you will be responsible for reimbursing your night nurse at the end of each week. She will provide you with a receipt from the parking garage for your records.
